Phase One - A New Adventure playground

For over four decades, our community built adventure playground has been more than just a place to play – it has been the focal point of our community. A safe haven for thousands of children and a lifeline for those facing struggles, loneliness and hardship.

However, time and countless adventures have taken their toll on the playground and despite our best efforts to maintain it, we’ve reached a critical point where repairs are no longer enough. We are currently fundraising to rebuild the playground – not just to replace what was, but to create something even better for generations to come.

Community Led Design...

The community have played a crucial role in the design of the new adventure playground. The design project began with a series of community meetings, where local residents were invited to share their thoughts and ideas for the new playground.

The final design combines a range of play equipment, helping to ensure that it meets the needs of children and young people of different ages for active and imaginative play.

The design includes:

• Modern play equipment including swings, climbing ropes, sand and water play, a zipline, and a multi-level play ship.

• Facilities for all ages: from toddler-friendly areas to adventurous spaces for teens.

• A Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for sports and group activities.

• Accessible routes and adapted equipment like wheelchair-friendly paths, accessible swings, and sensory-friendly areas.

• Family-friendly gathering spots with benches, picnic tables, and landscaped areas designed for comfort and beauty.

Can you help us to reach our target ?

To bring this vision to reality, we need to raise £500,000. While this might seem like a significant amount, it equates to just £25,000 per year, based on the average minimum lifespan of 20 years for a new piece of play equipment. This is a small price to pay for the impact that Venture has on thousands of children each year.

We’ve already started our journey. We are writing funding applications, organising community fundraisers and engaging with potential partners; we’re doing everything we can to reach our goal.
